The Simpsons Arrives in Rocket League: Unfortunately Not the Car Fans Are Dreaming Of

It was previously announced that the iconic animated series was collaborating with Fortnite, but that's not the only place where fans can immerse themselves in the world of Springfield. The beloved show is also making its way to the popular soccer-driving hybrid, bringing along an in-game car skin that will also be usable in the Fortnite universe. However, if gamers will actually want to use it is a different matter, as fans have their hearts set on just one Simpsons vehicle the community is itching to drive, and this isn't it.

The Dream Vehicle

Although most gamers would undoubtedly love to face off while driving Homer's custom creation—the notoriously impractical car the patriarch built personally in the classic episode "the one where he meets Herb"—that's not what's being offered. We aren't even getting the Canyonero, the enormous vehicle featured in the tenth season. Rather, fans will obtain the family's standard well-worn four-door, which they've been driving since the show's early days. Though this specific vehicle has seen better days, it stands as an recognizable symbol of the series. And for players who analyze the game's car hitboxes, the trusty sedan uses the same hitbox as the Dominus body type.

But that's not the only cosmetic from the show arriving in the game. This limited-time event will additionally feature a series of challenges to unlock more rewards, all of which are inspired by the show. As detailed in a official announcement, the missions will require participants to "achieve a certain number of centers and clears as there are the show's seasons, collect boost pickups as if your GPS is set to The Simpsons’ residence, and travel a specific distance sufficient for acquiring the ideal pastries!"

While the full lineup of challenge rewards isn't yet revealed, here is what has been confirmed up to this point:

• Waste wheels
• 20,000 experience points for each challenge

Based on promotional images is a reliable guide, it appears players will also receive wheels featuring a TV displaying The Simpsons' opening credits, Kang and Kodos topper, a frosted doughnut trail, and rocket boosts themed to burning tires and Krusty's famous restaurant.

Event Timing and Fortnite Connection

This event coincides with the extensive The Simpsons takeover of Fortnite, which includes a completely new playable area of the fictional town, as well as a month-long seasonal progression system.
